In an anchorage where there is little or no current or tidal stream, and in reasonably calm weather, a ship may be pointed to lie at an angle with the line of her cable by putting a spring on her cable. First heave in a shackle or so of cable. Now lead a hawser [...] out through the aftermost quarter fairlead, then for’ard and outboard of all, and shackle it with a joggle shackle to the cable outboard of the hawsepipe, thereby forming a spring. Then belay the hawser and veer the cable, and the ship's head should pay off away from the side on which the spring is rove until pointing in the required direction. Alternatively the hawser may be brought to an after capstan and hove in as the cable is veered. 2, record 1, English, - after%20capstan

A test used to diagnose benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that consists of a series of head, neck, and body movements that reproduce the vertigo sensation. 3, record 2, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor's office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits(also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms. 4, record 2, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo. The Dix-Hallpike maneuver is the gold standard test used to diagnose BPPV, which is crucial in confirming posterior canal BPPV. 5, record 2, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver

In route or drag pattern. Often today, an in route is called a drag pattern. This play requires the receiver to run a couple of steps downfield, then turn and run parallel to the line of scrimmage towards the center of the field. The drag pattern is used in the West Coast offense a lot, allowing receivers to catch the ball safely and then run after the catch. Speedy receivers who don’t mind running through linebacker territory also run in-routes. 3, record 6, English, - in%20pattern

Indicateur de virage et d'inclinaison latérale. [...] 3, record 17, French, - indicateur%20de%20virage

Both the French and Spanish make much use of the anglicism «drive», albeit not in a correct fashion : In English «drive» is supposed to imply a ball hit with a lot of pace to win a point outright, regardless of the type of spin used to accomplish this task.(The terms "shot" and "stroke", being more neutral, need not imply any added spin whatsoever) However in both French and Spanish, «drive» is often used as a synonym for "forehand"(shot/stroke), or like English it can refer to any hard shot, whether on the backhand or forehand side. The most popular type of milking parlour, worldwide, is the herring-bone parlour. This is on account of its versatility and economical cost of construction... As with the tandem side-gate parlour it also requires the use of an operator pit, but the cows enter in batches and stand at an angle of 30° or 35° to the pit. No side passages are necessary. Cows are normally milked from the side, but in some cases, from between the back legs. Since cows are handled in batches, a slow milker can hold up her batch. It is therefore not advisable for batches to exceed 12 cows. However, in a double-sided milking parlour 12 cows per side, with 12 milking units per side(24/24 parlour), about 308 cows can be milked in two hours. 5, record 34, English, - herringbone%20milking%20parlor

(...) the process of "torsion" involves a rotation of the mantle [of a young prosobranch gastropod], and [the] juvenile shell, with its enclosed viscera, through an angle of 180 degrees in relation to the velum(from which the head later develops) and the foot. As a result the mantle cavity comes to occupy an anterodorsal position, while the coiling of the shell assumes the endogastric direction typical of the adult gastropod. Effects of this torsion on the cells from which various organs of the adult animal later arise are far-reaching. Thus, when they develop, the nerve cords connecting the cerebral and pleural to the visceral ganglia are found to be crossed(...) rather like a figure 8, instead of being parallel. The gut has been twisted into a loop. It is, moreover obvious that the positions of the left and right ctenidia, osphradia, hypobranchial glands, heart auricles, and kidneys of the ancestral untorqued form become transposed as the result of torsion, so that when, as in most prosobranchs, only one of each of these organs remains, this, although now on the 6ft-hand side, represents the original right-hand organ. 1, record 42, English, - torsion

2, record 42, French, - torsion

Chipping. After debarking(and possibly lumber extraction), the logs(or portions of logs) are reduced to chips suitable for the subsequent pulping operations. The logs are usually fed through a sloping spout to one side of the rotating disc so that the knives strike at an angle of 35 to 40° from the axis of the log. A projection used to evaluate the elbow joint. The patient is seated at the side of the radiographic table, with the forearm resting on its ulnar side, the elbow joint flexed 90°, and the thumb pointing upward. The central beam is directed toward the radial head at a 45° angle to the forearm. The film in this projection shows the radial head projected ventral, free of overlap by the coronoid process, which is also well demonstrated. This projection is also effective in evaluating the capitellum and humeroradial and humeroulnar articulations. To emphasize the smoothness of a surface, use a single light source at a somewhat higher angle than a raking texture light. The light should be directed toward the camera, with the source in a position that might be used for angled backlighting. The idea is to create surface reflections without directing the main specular reflection straight into the lens. Reflections directed off to one side, or away from the camera, cannot be seen. Of course, the angle of the light must not be so low that the source is seen directly by the lens; a deep lens shade is a great help. 1, record 76, English, - angled%20backlighting

If a three-dimensional representation of a transducer directivity is made by rotating the two-dimensional directivity pattern these sectors generate zones, or regions, on the constant distance surface. These regions are known as lobes. The term is also used with reference to the corresponding portions of the directivity pattern. The region, or sector, which includes the reference axis is known as the primary lobe; the remaining regions, or sectors, are known as the secondary lobes. 3, record 80, English, - lobe
