Muscle–tendon vibration(MTV) was first introduced as an experimental tool to probe proprioception and neuromuscular physiology by mechanically stimulating muscle proprioceptors through a cyclic stretching of the muscle–tendon complex.... When applied continuously over several minutes, MTV often induces a reduction in maximal voluntary force, along with decreased spinal excitability and increased cortical activity... Repeated exposure over days or weeks has also been shown to improve strength, postural control and functional capacity in both healthy individuals and clinical populations(e. g., stroke or neurological disorders), highlighting the potential of MTV in rehabilitation and performance contexts... 2, record 6, English, - muscle%2Dtendon%20vibration

Hemifusomes consist of two vesicles, which are membrane sacs filled with liquid and formed by hemifusion, meaning that the smaller of the two is fused to the larger one like a hemisphere, almost as if its other half is missing. This occurs when the outer layers of two membranes merge first while the inner membrane layers stay open until a thin connection between them forms a new vesicle. The attached vesicles are sometimes found on the outside of the organelle and sometimes on the inside, and though where exactly these vesicles originate is still unknown, hemifusomes are thought to facilitate the formation of new vesicles that transport materials throughout the cell. This is probably how they take out cellular trash. 3, record 40, English, - hemifusome

Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is a protein produced by cells in your body. VEGF produces new blood vessels when your body needs them.... Sometimes cells can produce too much VEGF. When this happens, abnormal blood vessels can grow in your eye. These abnormal blood vessels damage your eye and harm your vision. This can lead to low vision or blindness. Anti-VEGF medicine blocks VEGF, which reduces leaking abnormal blood vessels in the retina. This slows or stops damage from the abnormal blood vessels and slows down vision loss. Sometimes it can even improve vision. Ophthalmologists use anti-VEGF medicines to treat [wet] age-related macular degeneration(AMD) ;[swelling] of the retina, called macular edema; [diabetic] retinopathy; [and retinal] vein occlusion. 6, record 75, English, - anti%2Dvascular%20endothelial%20growth%20factor%20drug

When studying evolution, DNA is especially important in its application to identifying and separating organisms into species. However, DNA is a fragile molecule, and it degrades over time. For most fossil species, there is essentially no hope of ever acquiring DNA from their fossils, so answers to questions about their appearance, physiology, population structure, and more may never be fully answerable. For more recently extinct species, scientists have, and continue to, extract ancient DNA(aDNA) which they use to reconstruct the genome of long-gone ancestors and relatives. 4, record 76, English, - ancient%20deoxyribonucleic%20acid

[Endolaser] is a critical component of vitreoretinal surgery. Endolaser coagulation is a method by which the laser light is brought directly inside the eye through a fiber optic cable connected to the laser delivery console for treatment to the retina. Endolaser probes are available in several forms such as—straight/curved, blunt/tapered, simple/aspirating, and even illuminating. When foveal detachment occurs in eyes with MF [myopic foveoschisis], surgery is necessary to prevent further deterioration. Vitrectomy and complete ILM peeling have been suggested to flatten the retina, but postoperative MH [macular holes] has been reported to occur in approximately 20% of cases. ILM peeling removes the Müller cone cells, which form the base of the fovea and serve as a plug that binds the photoreceptor cells in the foveola and supports the foveola structurally. The stretched retina in a highly myopic eye can easily induce a MH without this structure. To prevent postoperative MH, fovea-sparing ILM peeling was introduced. Studies have shown that this technique can prevent MH formation very effectively. A piece of ILM is preserved in the center of fovea to prevent damage to the Müller cone cells during surgery... 3, record 79, English, - fovea%2Dsparing%20internal%20limiting%20membrane%20peeling

Serous maculopathy resolved in six out of six patients in which the glial tissue surrounding the optic pit was removed.... Though glial tissue peeling has proven beneficial in a limited group of studies, precaution must be taken when performing this procedure due to the glial tissue's close proximity to the optic nerve. 2, record 80, English, - glial%20tissue%20peeling

Since the early 20th century, scientists have discovered several types of "selfish genetic elements" that are present naturally in the genomes of many species. These naturally occurring genetic elements are able to enhance their own transmission relative to the rest of the genes in the genome regardless of whether their presence is neutral or even harmful to the individual organism as a whole, and thus they exhibit drive and are called "natural gene drives." Examples of natural gene drives include homing endonuclease genes found in all forms of microbial life, transposable elements found in many plants and animals, and meiotic drive also found in various plants and animals. 4, record 88, English, - natural%20gene%20drive

3, record 99, French, - surproduction
