The Montreal Port Authority(MPA) is an autonomous federal agency created under the terms of the Canada Marine Act. It does everything in its power to make the Port of Montreal as competitive as possible, and from this perspective provides first-rate facilities to sea and land carriers, to terminal operators and to shippers.

"delivered ex quay" means that the seller delivers when the goods are placed at the disposal of the buyer not cleared for import on the quay (wharf) at the named port of destination. The seller has to bear costs and risks involved in bringing the goods to the named port of destination and discharging the goods on the quay (wharf). The DEQ term requires the buyer to clear the goods for import and to pay for all formalities, duties, taxes and other charges upon import. This is a reversal from previous Incoterms versions which required the seller to arrange for import clearance.

The DRS TA-1035(A)/U Digital Non-secure Voice Telephone (DNVT) with digital data port is a four-wire telephone set which transmits and receives conditioned diphase-modulated digital data, digitized voice and digital loop signaling at 16 or 32 kbps. Data calls may be placed manually via keypad or automatically via extension dialing through the data port.

Halterm Limited operates Canada's largest Atlantic coast container terminal on a 70-acre site in the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1969, Halterm opened the first container terminal in Halifax, one of the first on North America's East Coast. Built at a cost of $15 million, Halterm was an investment in the door-to-door movement to general cargo. The primary function of a port grain terminal is either to load or unload ships, depending on whether it is an export or an import facility. In transshipment facilities, both functions are involved. Regardless of the type of terminal, however, the emphasis is on throughput. Storage capacity is incidental and can normally be limited to the minimum required to eliminate interruptions in the transshipment function. Other factors of course can have a bearing on storage capacity, such as the existence of local onshore markets or anticipated lengthy delays in ship movement. The geographical location of the terminal will determine which of these or other factors must be considered.
