Clinician scientists are physicians who have typically undertaken additional research training and, in addition to working in the clinical setting, dedicate a substantial part of their career to research.

OBS

While the term "clinician" designates a type of physician whose practice is based on direct observation and treatment of a patient, and has, therefore, a narrower meaning than the term "physician," the designations "clinician scientist" and "physician scientist" are both used to designate a physician that works both in a clinical setting and in research.
