Atomic-force microscopy is similar to scanning-tunneling microscopy (STM) in that it can image surfaces at atomic-scale resolution. The difference between AFM and STM is that AFM does not require that the sample be an electrically conducting material. Like STM, it uses an atomically-sharp tip that is brought very close to the surface. The tip will feel a chemical attraction or repulsion and will move up or down on its supporting cantilever. This movement is monitored by an optical laser beam as the tip is moved laterally across the surface. As in STM, rastering the tip across the surface produces a topographic map of the surface. 3, record 24, English, - atomic%20force%20microscopy

[A] thermonuclear bomb, also called hydrogen bomb, or H-bomb, [is a] weapon whose enormous explosive power results from an uncontrolled self-sustaining chain reaction in which isotopes of hydrogen combine under extremely high temperatures to form helium in a process known as nuclear fusion. The high temperatures that are required for the reaction are produced by the detonation of an atomic bomb. A thermonuclear bomb differs fundamentally from an atomic bomb in that it utilizes the energy released when two light atomic nuclei combine, or fuse, to form a heavier nucleus. 4, record 27, English, - hydrogen%20bomb

Ozone is formed in the stratosphere by the combination of O2 and atomic oxygen in the presence of a third body, usually on the surface of a particulate. The first step toward understanding the role of atomic fluctuations in protein function is to determine the nature of the fluctuations themselves. This includes the study of their magnitude (how large they are), their probability (how often they occur) and their time scale (how long they take). The most direct approach to protein dynamics is to treat each atom in the protein as a particle responding to forces in the way prescribed by Newtonian physics, in accord with Newton's equations of motion. 3, record 71, English, - atomic%20fluctuation

By convention, the world's weather communities use a twenty four hour clock, similar to "military" time based on the 0° longitude meridian, also known as the Greenwich meridian. Prior to 1972, this time was called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) but is now referred to as Coordinated Universal Time or Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). It is a coordinated time scale, maintained by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM). It is also known as "Z time" or "Zulu Time." 9, record 93, English, - Coordinated%20Universal%20Time
