Attenuated total reflectance (ATR) is a sampling methodology that enables the direct examination of solid or liquid samples without further preparation. It utilizes total internal reflection to generate an evanescent wave that penetrates the sample, providing valuable molecular information.

There are three main commercially available methods to convert natural gas into hydrogen and carbon by-products: 1) Steam methane reforming (SMR) which uses high temperature water as an oxidant and a source of hydrogen, 2) Autothermal reforming which use both water and air oxidants, and 3) Pyrolysis which relies on methane splitting into hydrogen and solid carbon using high heat.

En el proyecto financiado con fondos europeos DEMCAMER se seleccionaron cuatro procesos químicos de particular importancia para el sector energético relacionados con la producción de hidrógeno puro, hidrocarburos líquidos y etileno. Dichos procesos son el reformado autotérmico (ATR), la síntesis de Fischer-Tropsch (SFT), la reacción de desplazamiento agua-gas (WGS) y el acoplamiento oxidativo de metano (AOM).
