Field margins. The treatment of the strip of ground, or field margin, adjacent to the hedge, has important effects on the establishment of the hedge, and on its developing wildlife value. Avoid routine cultivation of this strip, but either mow it to form a grass sward, or preferably sow it with a mixture of wildflowers and grasses. This type of mix is less vigorous than commercial strains of grass, and will compete less with the hedge for nutrients, and will require less frequent cutting. Its value for invertebrates and other organisms will be much higher than a mown grass sward. ... The width of the field margin will depend on the type of crop being grown, and on grants and other commercial factors. 2, record 17, English, - field%20margin

The Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index (FWI) System consists of six components that account for the effects of fuel moisture and weather conditions on fire behavior. The first three components are fuel moisture codes, which are numeric ratings of the moisture content of the forest floor and other dead organic matter. Their values rise as the moisture content decreases. There is one fuel moisture code for each of three layers of fuel: litter and other fine fuels; loosely compacted organic layers of moderate depth; and deep, compact organic layers. The remaining three components are fire behavior indices, which represent the rate of fire spread, the fuel available for combustion, and the frontal fire intensity; these three values rise as the fire danger increases. 1, record 40, English, - Canadian%20Forest%20Fire%20Weather%20Index%20System

3, record 45, French, - cumulonimbus%20flammagenitus

A ghost forest is the watery remains of a once verdant woodland. As sea level rises, more and more saltwater encroaches on the land. Along the world's coasts and estuaries, invading seawater advances and overtakes the fresh water that deciduous trees rely upon for sustenance. The salty water slowly poisons living trees, leaving a haunted ghost forest of dead and dying timber. Still standing in or near brackish water, the decaying trees of a ghost forest resemble giant graying pillars that protrude into the air. 2, record 47, English, - ghost%20forest

Prior to European settlement, leggings were made of durable leathers and this continued in the 17th century ... Leggings tended to come in two primary heights/lengths; one that just came to the knee being gartered at the knee and ankle, and the second is shaped more like chaps and having a strap at the side that ties to a waist belt. Both appear in imagery of Native Americans in the northeastern and middle colonials. 2, record 56, English, - legging

The Sahara Desert is by far Earth's largest source of airborne dust, and the storms can arise at any time of year. In winter and spring storms, Saharan dust often ends up fertilizing the nutrient-poor soils of the Amazon rainforest. Dust storms in the summer tend to loft material higher into the atmosphere, allowing plumes to travel thousands of kilometres on high-level winds. Those summer seasonal wind patterns can carry the dust from Africa to the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. 2, record 64, English, - Saharan%20dust

Brunisol eutrique(BE). 2, record 81, French, - brunisol%20eutrique

Indigenous people inhabiting Labrador and northeastern Quebec. The Innu nation consists of 3 groups - the Naskapi, the Attikamek and the Montagnais. In Quebec the Innu are called "Montagnais" or "Naskapi", depending not only on their ethnic origins, but also their geographic location in the province. Strictly speaking, however, the Montagnais and the Naskapi are specific sub-groups of the Innu; in Labrador and Newfoundland, one speaks only of the "Innu". The term "Innu" is invariable. 3, record 82, English, - Innu

3, record 82, French, - Innu
