The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), originally known as INTELSAT, was created in 1964 as a cooperative among nations to provide the commercial space segment required for international public telecommunication services of the highest quality and reliability, and on a non-discriminatory basis to all areas of the world.
