A professional designation of the air outdoors. More specifically, it is the air subjected to meteorological and climatic changes ... It is also the kind of air that gets polluted through combustion caused by automobiles, trucks, power plants and incinerators. Ambient air fills the portion of the atmosphere most important to daily deep breathing exercises: the troposphere.

À l'inverse, «air ambiant», dans le domaine de la toxicologie industrielle, désigne l'air qui entoure le travailleur (air à l'intérieur du local ou du poste de travail, air des ambiances professionnelles).

OBS

«Air des villes» (voir cette fiche) est un quasi-synonyme souvent utilisé pour distinguer l'«atmosphère» (air atmosphérique) d'une «atmosphère intérieure» (par exemple une atmosphère d'usine).
