Pneumogastrique (nerf). Dixième paire de nerfs sortant du crâne, très longs : ses rameaux nerveux se terminent au niveau du cou, du thorax et de l'abdomen. Le nerf pneumogastrique est le nerf principal du système nerveux parasympathique. Il innerve la totalité des viscères. Il est constitué d'un nombre élevé de rameaux parasympathiques. Il contrôle les mouvements du voile du palais, du cœur et des vaisseaux, du larynx, des poumons et du tube digestif.
