Les adjectifs «météorique» et «météoritique» sont relatifs l'un à un météore l'autre à une météorite. Le météore peut être constitué de différentes matières, parfois même, de simples poussières en suspension. La météorite quand à elle est un bloc solide de matière. Les deux donnent lieu à des poussières et les auteurs ne distinguent généralement pas si ces poussières viennent de météores ou de météorites.
