Con respecto a la implementación de compromisos regionales e internacionales relevantes a nivel nacional, Canadá está participando en un proceso interno para formular un plan federal de respuesta ante emergencias en que se definen las funciones y responsabilidades de los departamentos y organismos federales en caso de un evento crítico dentro de sus fronteras. Aunque en el plan se aplica un enfoque de todos los riesgos en el manejo federal de emergencias, será un marco vital para la respuesta nacional a un desastre natural en gran escala y un elemento fundamental de los empeños canadienses para dar cumplimiento a los compromisos de Hyogo.
