A chemical compound in the form of white crystals, insoluble in water and alcohol, slightly soluble in HCl and nitric acid, derived from the interaction of solutions of aluminum sulfate and sodium phosphate, used in ceramics, dental cements, cosmetics, paints, varnishes, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper.

CONT

Aluminum phosphates (augelite, crandallite, millisite, and wavellite) are mined in tropical or subtropical regions where they form lateritic, residual, or phosphatized rock deposits.

OBS

The IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) recommends the form "aluminium" instead of "aluminum."
