ANALOGUE INFERENCE [1 record]

Record 1 1994-06-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Artificial Intelligence
DEF

Mapping information from a known object or process description into a less-known, but similar one.

CONT

... analogies provide an efficient form of learning. ... the teacher can often express the same chunk of information in many fewer words, using an appropriate analogy. Of course, this method of communication is only effective if the student can "decode" the analogy given, to reclaim that information. We call that decoding process analogical inference.

Key term(s)
  • analogue inference

French

Domaine(s)
  • Intelligence artificielle
CONT
