A telephone microwave-relay satellite network that allows a person to direct-dial any military telephone number in the United States.

OBS

AUTOVON is the principal long-distance unsecured telephone system in use with the Department of Defense; military forces can communicate with each other, as can the National Command Authorities with Unified/Specified Commanders in Chief. A highly survivable network, AUTOVON features automatic override for Flash communications. More than 60 switching stations are located around the world: from Spain to Japan, and from Guam to Hawaii.
