Health Canada, Health Products and Food Branch. The Biologics and Genetic Therapies Directorate (BGTD) is the regulatory authority in Canada which is responsible for ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of all biologics and radiopharmaceuticals for human use, marketed in Canada. These include blood and blood products, viral and bacterial vaccines, genetic therapeutic products, tissues, organs and xenografts, which are manufactured in Canada or elsewhere.
