The CANSKATE Program uses a badge system to lead children through eight skill levels. The skills of the first seven badges - Beginner, Elementary, Basic and Novice I through Novice IV levels are assessed on a day-to-day basis. A badge is awarded when a skater learns the skills in that badge. Only the final Proficiency badge is tested by the qualified coach. A series of incentive certificates and special ribbons are also used to encourage and reward skaters. Many skaters complete the entire program in two years. However, ability, interest and attendance may affect the rate of progress. 1, record 1, English, - CANSKATE%20Program

1, record 1, French, - Programme%20canadien%20de%20patinage
