Le Casus Foedoris se distingue du Casus Belli en ce qu'il envisage un acte ou un événement provoquant l'application d'un traité ou d'une alliance et justifiant l'une des parties contractantes à appeler l'autre partie à son secours. L'invasion de la Tchécoslovaquie par les Allemands constituait un Casus Foedoris, vu qu'en vertu de leurs obligations envers elle, la Tchécoslovaquie a fait aussitôt appel à la France et à la Russie.
