troncation; réduction; terme abrégé : Les termes «troncation» et «réduction» désignent le procédé d'abrègement, mais on les utilise aussi pour désigner le résultat, soit le «terme abrégé», la formation d'un mot abrégé. Les sigles (CSN : Confédération des syndicats nationaux) et les acronymes (ACNOR : Association canadienne de normalisation; radar; cégep) sont des abréviations que l'on peut considérer, au sens large, comme des troncations.
