[Le] camphre synthétique [...] est préparé à partir du pinène de l'essence de térébenthine et purifié par cristallisation ou sublimation. Poudre blanche, cristalline, complètement volatile, le camphre synthétique, de même odeur que le camphre naturel, en possède les mêmes solubilités et les mêmes caractères, à l'exception du pouvoir rotatoire, qui est faible ou nul. [...] Les deux camphres, ayant des propriétés physiologiques identiques, ont les mêmes usages.
