Quelques Arthrodires offrent d'étroites ressemblances avec les Elasmobranches, qui appartiennent ainsi à ce même phylum.

Encore appelés "Elasmobranches", les Chondrichthyens groupent, pour les formes actuelles, les "Sélaciens" et les "Holocéphales".
