Clumps of cellular structures that arise when embryonic stem cells are cultured.


Human ES cells were grown in suspension to induce their differentiation into embryoid bodies (EBs).


Embryoid bodies are not part of normal development and occur only in in vitro conditions.

Les cellules potentiellement ES [cellules souches embryonnaires] sont cultivées en gouttes suspendues. Elles forment des corps embryoïdes, agrégats dont le centre est composé de cellules non différenciées et l'assise externe, de cellules de type endodermique. Ces corps embryoïdes sont alors cultivés sur support et forment des colonies composites au sein desquelles on retrouve des cellules différenciées appartenant aux trois types fondamentaux (ectoderme, endoderme et mésoderme).
