Leucémies viro-induites chez l’animal. [La plupart des] rétrovirus compétents pour la réplication provoquent des leucémies chez leurs hôtes infectés. Cette caractéristique commune aux rétrovirus de différentes espèces, qui les a fait dénommer virus leucémogènes aviaires (ALV), murins (MuLV) et félins (FeLV) est due au fait que le cycle réplicatif de ces virus a lieu in vivo essentiellement dans les cellules hématopoïétiques qui contiennent une combinatoire de facteurs de transcription se fixant très efficacement à la région U3 [de la] LTR [longue terminaison répétée] virale.
