Legal aid paralegals are trained to work within established legal aid programs. Their functions, in order of general priority and frequency, are listed below: 1. Interviewing clients 2. Counselling clients 3. Gathering facts and information 4. Negotiating with government agencies or parties to a grievance 5. Representing clients before administrative tribunals 6. Completing standard forms 7. Negotiating with the opposing party in a legal dispute 8. Drafting legal documents 9. Legal research 10. Representing parties in court where allowed.
