Based on the above information, the Commission is satisfied that the design and current condition of the MNR [McMaster Nuclear Reactor] are such that the MNR can be operated safely during the proposed licence period. With a longer licence term, CNSC staff recommended that the Commission accept a proposal from CNSC staff to present, at the approximate mid-point in the five-year licence term, a detailed progress report on the performance of the facility and licensee.
