The design of the plant shall be such that, following an accident, it is possible to isolate all engineered sources of compressed air and other non-condensable gases leading into the containment atmosphere, other than those required for the operation of necessary equipment.

The incondensable gases have to be evacuated from the reactor; they can be washed or burnt.
