In 2004, the Office of the Comptroller General was recreated as a distinct office within the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. Its mandate is to strengthen financial management and internal audit across the federal government through a wide range of activities including renewing the Treasury Board suite of financial management and internal audit policies and overseeing their application; providing leadership to the financial management and internal audit communities; attracting and retaining a professional cadre of financial management and internal audit personnel; improving the quality, integration and timeliness of financial information and supporting information systems for effective decision making and accountability; and, with the Department of Finance and the Deputy Receiver General, overseeing the preparation of the Public Accounts of Canada and the government's audited consolidated financial statement.  7, record 1, English, - Office%20of%20the%20Comptroller%20General

En 2004, le Bureau du contrôleur général est devenu un organisme distinct du Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor du Canada.
