Dans le Règlement sur le transport des matières dangereuses «packaging» est opposé à «bulk» et est rendu par emballage.

Le Lamy Transport, vol. 3, 1985, n° 591, p. 133 donne les 3 subdivisions suivantes : 1- transport en colis; 2- transport en vrac; 3- transport en citerne.

OBS

Le mot «emballage» met l'accent sur le moyen de protection : matériau, système de protection servant à éviter la détérioration (voc. emballage de l'OLF), alors que le mot «colis» met l'accent sur le produit transporté, le «paquet» lui-même.
