De acuerdo con el Código Internacional de Señales, la bandera que representa la letra h, significa que tiene un práctico, también denominado piloto en América Latina, a bordo. No debe confundirse con la bandera g (golf) que es la de pedir práctico y que se usa cuando el navío necesita de un piloto avezado que conozca las aguas locales y lo lleve a puerto seguro.
