A secondary closure made out of pleated aluminum foil that conforms to the primary closure (e.g. cork or stopper cork) and the contours of a wine or alcohol bottle.

CONT

Pleated aluminium foil closures in metallic and plain lacquer finishes, with top stamped and screen process printed decoration are available in a variety of diameter and skirt depths.

OBS

Although the terms "closure" and "cap" may be seen as different when standing alone, we think they should be recognized as synonyms when properly qualified.

Elles se présentent sous forme d'un cylindre légèrement conique (...) les parois du cylindre sont plissées, car l'aluminium n'étant pas un métal souple comme le plomb, il est à craindre que si elles étaient lisses, elles n'épousent pas correctement les profils de verrerie et se chiffonnent. (...) Intérieurement, la capsule est enduite d'un mélange d'adhésif facilitant la bonne tenue au verre.

Surboucher une bouteille consiste à en coiffer le goulot d'une capsule préfabriquée ou découpée sur la machine (...) Bien entendu, le surbouchage (...) complète le bouchage, mais ne le remplace pas; il n'est effectué qu'après fermeture de la bouteille par un bouchon de liège, métallique, etc.
