On distingue [...] des dislocations en vis (screw-dislocations), affaissements droits ou gauches d'une partie du cristal ne s'étendant qu'à un fragment de face, ce qui déforme le réseau. Le gradin (rejet) produit par l'affaissement dû à une telle dislocation a une hauteur multiple de la maille unitaire; il constitue pour le cristal une amorce d'accroissement en spirale (régulièrement logarithmique ou polygonisée) dans le sens déterminé par la dislocation.
