Régénération de l'ozone, qui survient à la suite d'une perte d'ozone, du fait que les rayons solaires ultraviolets ne rencontrant pas d'ozone sur leur chemin pénètrent plus profondément dans la stratosphère, dissocient plus de molécules d'oxygène et produisent une augmentation de la quantité d'ozone dans les couches plus basses de l'atmosphère.
