Le tout premier service d'éducation des adultes fut créé le 7 janvier 1986 à Gravelbourg sous le nom de Centre fransaskois d'éducation permanente (CFEP). En 1988, le CFEP devient le SFEA (Service fransaskois d'éducation des adultes). La mission du Service fransaskois de formation aux adultes (SEFFA) est de contribuer à la construction identitaire, culturelle et linguistique fransaskoise et favoriser le développement des francophones et des francophiles par l'éducation et la formation postsecondaire collégiale et la formation continue en français.
