Stabilisation and orientation [of a space vehicle] by inertial flywheels consists in accurately aligning the axes of three flywheels with the axes of reference (roll, pitch and yaw). When one of these flywheels is moved in yaw by an electric motor, its angular moment increases and the vehicle is subjected to a reactive couple. Inertial flywheels provide very fine control of orientation or stabilisation, because the couples set up may be very small. 1, record 1, English, - stabilisation%20by%20inertial%20flywheel

2, record 1, French, - stabilisation%20par%20roue%20%C3%A0%20inertie
