Part of the membership process involves the acquisition of one or more stock exchange seats (on the TSE [Toronto Stock Exchange], ASE [Alberta Stock Exchange] and VSE [Vancouver Stock Exchange] or member trading permits (on the ME [Montreal Exchange].
