On July 29, 1997, the UN Security Council adopted resolution 1123 which established the United Nations Transition Mission in Haiti.

OBS

The United Nations Transition Mission in Haiti (UNTMIH) was the final mission in Haiti with a military component. The military's mandate was to ensure the safety and freedom of movement of UN personnel involved with supporting and contributing to the professionalization of the Haitian National Police.
