The white-topping construction process consists of four steps: 1) coring the existing asphalt to determine its depth, type and condition, 2) preparing the road surface by water or abrasive blasting, or milling and cleaning, 3) placing the concrete, and 4) finishing and texturing the surface, and curing and sawing its joints. Recouvrement ultramince en béton. C'est une technique d'entretien et de remise en état des chaussées selon laquelle une couche de béton de 50 mm à 100 mm d'épaisseur est collée sur le revêtement en asphalte sous-jacent. La technique a vu le jour aux États-Unis, plus précisément à Louisville au Kentucky, en 1991. Depuis lors, de nombreux organismes au Canada et aux États-Unis y ont recours pour la réfection des chaussées. Le recouvrement mince en béton (whitetopping) était une technique couramment utilisée de remise en état des chaussées dégradées.
