Vapor Compression Distillation (VC) consists of compressing the vapor evaporated from the salty water to raise its condensation temperature and condensing indirectly against the feed so that the heat of condensation can be used to heat the salty water feed. Le compresseur aspire la vapeur produite dans la chaudière et en élève la température par compression au-dessus de la température régnant dans celle-ci, la chambre peut donc servir de condenseur à la vapeur comprimée, on cède ainsi à l'eau les calories de condensation qui sont réutilisées dans un nouveau cycle.
