Absence or rudimentary state of the rhinencephalon, or olfactory lobe of the brain, on one or both sides, with a corresponding lack of development of the external olfactory organs.

(Clinical features of D1-trisomy) Ten per cent of the subjects had a single cerebral holosphere, while about 56 % had absent olfactory bulbs, and there have been a number of reports of the specific association of arrhinencephaly and 13-trisomy.
