Destiné à la protection de zone, le missile Aster 30 SAMP/T est la principale arme de défense aérienne mobile du 21e siècle. Elle permet notamment de protéger des sites sensibles et des forces mobiles contre la menace de missiles (balistiques tactiques ou tirés à grande portée, missiles de croisière, missiles antiradar (ARM) et pourra remplacer tous les systèmes existants de défense sol-air à moyenne portée. Aster 30 SAMP/T couvre tous les besoins en matière d'autoprotection et de défense aérienne à moyenne et grande distance (protection de forces, d'objectifs clés et de zones). Il est mis en œuvre en mode autonome ou intégré à un système de coordination en réseau maillé.
