CONT

Finite element methods are being used for property characterization and particularly for mechanical property analysis. Different elements are used for the soil (which is quite well documented) and for the fabric (which is not well documented). Results are particularly important in indicating the amount of deformation that the fabric will undergo and also information about anchoring, thereby giving an estimate of the required friction between the fabric and the soil.
