The National Aboriginal Forestry Training and Review Committee was established in 1993 to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the forestry industry. As a first step, the committee looked at the level of participation in the industry. At present, the committee is working with specific educational institutions to encourage Aboriginal people to take training programs in the forestry industry. It is also working with the institutions to modify existing programs to include an Aboriginal component. The third phase of this agreement began in November 1995 and will run to March 31, 1997.

Créé en 1993, le Comité national d'étude de la formation et de l'emploi des Autochtones en foresterie autochtone a pour but d'accroître la participation des peuples autochtones à l'industrie forestière. Le Comité a d'abord étudié le niveau de participation à l'industrie. Maintenant, il travaille avec certains établissements d'enseignement en vue d'encourager les Autochtones à suivre des programmes de formation liés à l'industrie forestière. Le Comité travaille également avec ces établissements à modifier les programmes actuels afin d'y inclure une composante autochtone. La troisième phase de l'entente a commencé en novembre 1995 et se poursuivra jusqu'au 31 mars 1997.
