English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Elements and Compounds

Universal entry(ies)
CH3CClF2

C2ClF2H3
formula, see observation
DEF

A partially halogenated chlorofluoroethane used as a solvent and [as] an intermediary [which is] suspected of depleting the ozone layer.

CONT

"DuPont," said the report, "has recognized the potential of CFC-22 as a substitute for refrigeration, air-conditioning, propellants and blowing agents." It is more expensive than F-11 and F-12; but let nobody tell you that substitutes do not exist (that same report, by the way, ended with the note "other substitutes being considered include CFCs 142b and 152a, both of which are currently in production").

OBS

1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane: form recommended by the IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry).

OBS

Chemical formula: CH3CClF2 or C2ClF2H3

DEF

OBS

Formule chimique : CH3CClF2 ou C2ClF2H3
