A soap resulting from the reaction of a fatty acid with ammonium hydroxide.

OBS

Has an appreciable vapor pressure of ammonia and decomposes on continued exposure leaving the fatty acid residue. Usually not sold as detergents, but used in toilet preparations and emulsions.
