A colorless, acrid, inflammable liquid having a pleasant etheral odor that is found in small quantities in normal urine and in larger amounts in diabetic urine, that is used as a solvent for fats, lacquers, oils, plastics, resins, rubber, varnishes and waxes, used to cleanse the skin before injections and vaccinations and used in the manufacture of chloroform, iodoform, bromoform, explosives, aeroplane dopes, rayon and photographic films.

OBS

propan-2-one: form recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) for the systematic name corresponding to the CAS number indicated on the present record.

OBS

acetone: term adopted by Environment Canada; used in the list of pollutants measured in the National Air Pollution Surveillance Network (NAPS).

OBS

propanone: due to the absence of the subscript "2," this name is considered ambiguous.

OBS

Former name (Ancien nom): Parameter indicating that this chemical name is obsolete and as such should be used only if the context requires so. It is preferable to use the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) recommended name.

OBS

Chemical formula: C3H6O or CH3C(O)CH3 or CH3COCH3

OBS
