The BCGS is a non-profit organization formed in 1971. It is incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia and is registered with Revenue Canada for the purpose of tax deductible contributions. The BCGS is also a member of the Federation of Family History Societies. Although the Society's focus is on British Columbia, there is some support for other groups in the world such as Great Britain and parts of Europe.
