The LP compressor has six stages. The first two stages comprise the fan section, and have a larger diameter than the remaining four stages. Approximately 47% of the fan stage discharge air goes into the main engine intake, the remaining 53% is discharged into an annular duct.

Attelage BP - Compresseur axial à 4 étages entraîné par une turbine à 4 étages. Le premier étage du compresseur constitue le rotor de la soufflante (FAN). Le flux d'air accéléré par cette soufflante est rejeté directement à l'extérieur, par un conduit annulaire entourant le réacteur.
