Founded in 1989 as a non-profit organization to preserve the earth's environment, Global Action Plan for the Earth (GAP) provided a structured program to help people adopt "green" behaviours and allow them to see that their changes were making a global difference. Two separate programs were available: Journey for the Planet was offered to school children and the Community Lifestyles Program was aimed at adults.

Global Action Plan for the Earth (GAP) a été créé en 1989 dans le but de protéger l'environnement de la planète. Cette organisation sans but lucratif offrait un programme structuré pour inciter les gens à adopter des habitudes plus écologiques et pour leur faire comprendre en quoi ces changements affectaient la terre entière. Deux programmes distincts ont été mis sur pied : Journey for the Planet, à l'intention des jeunes dans les écoles, et Community Lifestyles, à l'intention des adultes.
