VITESSE GLISSEMENT [3 records]

Record 1 2011-05-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
OBS

slip speed: term officially approved by the Lexicon Project Committee (New Brunswick).

French

Domaine(s)

Record 2 2008-10-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Kinematics
  • Tectonics
  • Soil Mechanics (Engineering)
DEF

The rate at which the geologic materials on the two sides of a fault move past each other over geologic time.

OBS

The slip rate is expressed in mm/yr, and the applicable duration is stated. Faults having slip rates less than 0.01 mm/yr are generally considered inactive, while faults with Holocene slip rates greater than 0.1 mm/yr generally display tectonic geomorphology.

OBS

slip rate: term used at Natural Resources Canada - Earth Sciences Sector.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Cinématique (Mécanique)
  • Tectonique
  • Mécanique des sols
CONT

Record 3 1981-03-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Kinematics
  • Lubrication Technology
OBS

The permissible sliding velocity of a spherical plain bearing is mainly dependant on the load, sliding contact surfaces, cooling arrangements and the lubrication.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Cinématique (Mécanique)
  • Tribologie
OBS

La vitesse de glissement admissible pour une rotule dépend surtout de la charge, de la nature des surfaces de glissement, des conditions de refroidissement et de la lubrification.
