Sibutramine has been shown to reduce body weight by dual actions: reduction of food intake through enhancement of satiety, and increase of energy expenditure by induction of thermogenesis. Sibutramine produces its therapeutic effects primarily by serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition.
